Day 29 - Mercado Central and la Cristy

On Friday, we had a few last things we had to do: more souvenir shopping and visit Sergio's godmother.

We started our morning by taking Abuelita to the house in Zona 6, where Sergio grew up and which is now his brother's business. She and I made breakfast, and walked down the street to get our tortillas, fresh off the comal.

After breakfast, we headed out to the Central Market, but first Sergio took a small detour and showed us his elementary school:And the school where he first started teaching:
The Central Market was a lot of fun. No one harrassed us and the prices were great. The top floor is all souvenir type stuff. The bottom floor is food and flowers. We finished up our shopping for presents and then bought some flowers for Sergio's godmother.
On the way back to the Zona 6, we got caught in a rainstorm, but Patti lent me a blouse. We had lunch and headed out to Cristy's house. Cristy worked with Abuelita for 30 years - both of them were kinder teachers. She is confined to a wheelchair because of some fall she had years ago and because she has really bad diabetes. She served us a refaccion (which is a light meal) and caught Sergio up on all her family.
