Day 30 - Car wash, nursery, lunch with cousins and dinner with Juarez

Our last full day in Guatemala :(

Sergio and I wanted to get something for all our hosts, and we finally decided on plants. We took Neto's car to get washed and then decided to walk to the nursery. The sign said, turn in 200 meters, so we figured it was just around the block. Well, it wasn't, but we got a nice long walk. And the nursery was beautiful and we found what we wanted. We had to walk back for the car, of course. Then we loaded up the two very large plants in the newly washed van, went around a curve, and dumped dirt all over the newly vacuumed floor. Not the most logical sequence...

As we still some more family to meet, we loaded up the van again, and went to have another refaccion at Sergio's cousin Mary's house (the same one who lent us the house in Antigua.) She's married to a gringo named Jack. Here are our lovely hosts: They served rosa de jamaica to drink, and tamales de chipilin and black beans to eat. Yummy. We met Mary's kids, who are about Sergio's age. So, even though Mary is Sergio's cousin, she's more like his aunt and her kids are more like his cousins. She was the daughter of the oldest of Sergio's uncles and Sergio's mom is the youngest of the siblings.

After meeting more family, we dropped Abuelita off at one of Sergio's other cousin's house and went to return the van and take the Juarez family out for dinner. Here is Chiquy with her new Hawaiian bouganvillea plant that we got them for their garden.

We went out to dinner and said our good-byes :( and then Tio Carlos and Abuelita picked us up. It's amazing how quickly our time in Guatemala went and how easily all these people became my family and friends! We really did get the warmest welcome from everyone. I hope we go back soon!
